By the sound of the team weekend everyone came away feeling inspired and happy. I'm sorry I was unable to make the trip back to meet everyone, but there was the small problem of the Pacific Ocean between us!
I went on a 12km run on the weekend as part of my aim to get fit before the trip. The Bay to Breakers is a race in San Francisco which started in 1912 as a way to lift the city's spirits after the disastrous 1906 San Francisco earthquake, and is the longest consecutively running footrace in the world. It is very bright and colourful - people dress up in crazy costumes and there are live bands playing every km or so to keep the runners motivated! I'll attach a picture of some of the costumes. Approximately 70,000 people ran or walked in the race. I couldn't believe it. I have never experienced a community sporting event that was so exciting and exhilirating and made me want to jump for joy and cry with happiness and fall over from exhaustion all at the same time!
I have been changing my mind about my event and where I am going to host it and how it is going to work so many times that I am back at the drawing board. It's a fine line between keeping it simple and letting my ego take control and creating a mammoth (and stressful) beast. I just have to trust that whichever way I decide to go, it will be perfectly imperfect in every way! And every little frustration along the way will help me grow. That's just how it is at times.
Stay cool until next time
