Today we hiked to a peak of 4800m. I guess we were all pretty proud of ourselves by the top. The views along the way were unbelievably stunning - pristine torquoise lakes and small avalanches occurring in the peaks around us. Another condor. A muddy boot. A horse that worked twice as hard as all of us. A touch of snow. Constant temperature changes. And a few nasty gusts of wind.
I mostly enjoyed the day, although now in the late afternoon, I feel more tired and sore than elated and trusting of my body. My pack has been rubbing against contact points on my body and is creating a lovely pink and tender rash. I guess I should be grateful that I don´t have blisters like Nat.
What else? I´m shitty with Jade again. Sometimes I feel like I have no say on decisions. But who am I to judge? I certainly am far from perfect.
I´ve been thinking about my friends based on the Gold Coast, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, San Francisco and Geelong. Today I wanted the answer to come - where is my next destination? And will I be resting there for a while? Stable enough to get another dog? Those are the questions for another day I guess. And maybe I won´t know the answer for a while. High quality problems I´m having, really. I do miss talking to my sponsor, and my friends in 12 step. But at the same time, the girls seem to be pretty good @ listening to me and are good @ understanding as best they can.
On a side note, I ate fish last night. It´s the first time I´ve eaten meat in many many years and it was fantastic!! I´m glad I did it in style. Caught fresh from the icy cold lakes of the Peruvian Andes!
