SHINE the way ... Entries close APRIL 7

2008 is the third year that a staff member from Village Roadshow & their sister organisations have been a part of the Girls on Top adventure. This year's winner will walk in the footsteps of previous winners Marayka Kirby, Seaworld, & Jen Wright, Roadshow, who have trekked the world's two greatest ranges; the Andes & the Himalaya, as ambassadors for their teams & for women at work everywhere.

Last years' entries for the opportunity brought forward an inspiring and surprising amount of talent and passion from staff all over the organisation. It was incredible to see how much passion and daring there is in our ranks. We were thrilled and inspired by the hidden talents we discovered amongst the applicants, and the toughest part of our choice was not finding the right girl, but choosing her from a very strong field.

Marakya Kirby, Dolphin Trainer at Seaworld won the opportunity & exemplified the vision, passion, determination, self reliance, team spirit, resiliance, strength of character, felxibility, leadership, compassion & sense of fun & belonging that we seek to encourage through this opportunity. She raised more than $18,000 for Girls on Top conservation work in the Amazon, and created a Scholarship place on the 2008 team for an Indigenous Girl on Top.

In 2006 National Promotions Manager, Jennifer Wright, traveled to Ladakh or 'little Tibet' in the Himalaya as ambassador for the company, stepping into the lead & into the unknown, for a month-long high altitude journey into the ancient mountains, Buddhist culture & personal limits of a Girls on Top expedition.

Village Roadshow & Girls on Top congratulate Marayka and Jen on their incredible achievements -and their sense of humour and adventure. They were exemplary members of the team & returned with new ideas about their own abilities, & the world we live in. We hope their journeys will encourage & inspire other staff members to reach new heights -  geographic, professional & personal.

Leadership is neither born nor taught: it is circumstance that calls forth a champion.      The inclusion of a Village staff member on our expeditions combines Girls on Top's leadership in personal growth, vision & passion with the skills, resources & talents of staff working with major organisations. Through Rise & Shine, our corporate climbing project, we bring adventure to women in business, & show how the business of adventure relates to challenge & achievement at work. Our partners from business embrace it as a way to reward and enrich a leader from the staff, & use her story to inspire others.
